Book review: He’s just not that into you (2)

There are some really useful tips on relationship that all girls should keep in mind:

He’s just not into you if he only wants to see you when he’s drunk. Who doesn’t like to bring booze to the make-out party? Be aware that if Boozy the clown has to slip on the red nose every time it gets intimate, it could be symptomatic of a bigger problem.

He’s just not into you if he’s disappeared on you. Sometimes you have to get closure all by yourself. He’s gone. Vanished into thin air. It’s so painful. It is impossible not to be hurt and angry. There’s nothing worse than having no answer, in business, friendship, and especially romantic relationships. But the bad news is, no answer is your answer. Don’t waste your valuable heart and mind trying to figure out why he did what he did. Don’t ask yourself what you did wrong or how you could have done it differently. The best revenge in this situation is not anger, but emotional distance, as quickly as possible.  Don’t ask and write anything to him and to give him the chance to reject you again. There is no mystery–he’s gone and he wasn’t good enough for you.

If a guy is yelling about his ex-wife or crying over his last girlfriend, try to find someone else to take you to the movie.

Being lonely, being alone, for many people sucks. I get it but my true belief is that being with somebody who makes you feel shitty or doesn’t honor the person you are, is worse. I know you can crave companionship and sex and love so badly that it physically hurts. But I truly believe that the only way you can find out that there is something better out there is to first believe there’s something better out there. I’ll believe it for you until you’re ready.

I will not go out with a man who hasn’t asked me out first.

I will not go out with a man who keeps me waiting by the phone.

I will not date a men who makes feel sexually undesirable.

I will not, under any circumstance, spend my precious time with a man who has already rejected me.

I will not be with a man who is not clearly a good, kind, loving person.

Book review: He's just not that into you (1)

Many people say that this book is a self-help for desperate  women who are disappointed in relationships. Well, I partially agree. It is a great guideline for us not to waste our time and make stupid mistakes in dealing with relationships. Personally I treat this book as a psychological book with a hint of amusement. The book is divided into 16 chapter and consists of many short stories and is written in the format of questions and answers. As a matter of fact, I found something I would relate to.

phone rage

The story is about response phone calls from guys. I took my previous dating experiences as an example,  A guy I dated before said he was going to call me at certain time or he had to take a call on the other line, he said “I’ll call you back in a few minutes”, and then he didn’t. He always ended up calling on the next day or three to five hours later, but almost never when he said he would. I really hate it, but I really liked this guy, I would give him excuses and assume that he were really busy. meanwhile I hate a guy who doesn’t do what he says or delays his promise. After reading the book I realized that “he’s simply just not into me”  As the book says, ” calling when you say you’re going to is the very first brick in the house you are building of love and trust. If he can’t lay this one stupid brick down, you ain’t never gonna to have a house, baby. And it’s cold outside.”

Qiu Hao, emerging Chinese avant-garde designer

You must not be familiar with the name Qiu Hao. He is a Shanghai fashion designer who graduated from the prestigious Center Saint Martin and worked for Alexander McQueen. He made his namesake brand Qiu Hao in 2006, based in Shanghai. Before that, I always mistakenly thought he was just an inexperienced yet talented young designer. After reading many relevant reports about him, I know that he currently runs four boutiques, and has 30 employees. He won the woolmark award in Paris. His style is very rare and forward and different from any other designers in China. The collection features fluid lines, stark shapes. He is also well-known for his unique knit design and use of fabrics. usually there are only six colors appearing: white, black, beige, sliver, gold and blue ( they are my favorite colors as well )

I believe most people from the United States  will never think he is a Chinese designer while seeing his collection for the first time, because in most people’s eyes, Chinese design should be associated with bright color or images like dragons and phoenixes. he answered the question in an interview about what makes his design Chinese, he said: “all Chinese designs don’t have to be about bright color and dragons, a subtle, Chinese philosophy underlies everything we make”.

His remark gave the voice of many Chinese designers. Chinese modern design has been bound too much by the so-called traditional features. And people expect Chinese designers to design Chinese elements, but I think the design inspiration can come from domestic or foreign resources. The point is that they are a new generation of designers, on behalf of a new fashion point of view.

It was a great experience to watch live show in the studio. I felt surprised about how many lights it needed in such a small studio while entering to it, moreover the audience seats are not as many as I expected. There are only five short rows of auditorium. the Staffs who work there are really good at leading audiences emotion. Before the show officially started, a staff  taught us how to clap, how to look into the camera, and taught us to smile to the camera during the show.

Next, the host Janelle and Spencer appeared.  This was the first time I saw them in person, previously only saw them on television, strange to say, I felt that they looked bigger in real persons than on TV. First of all, they exchanged greetings with us for a while and briefly explained the content of today’s show. I adore Janelle who is very cute, in particular, sweet smile. She gets the TV host look, comfortable and approachable, but when she opened her month, sharp speech style came out. Continue reading
